Simple English Short Stories - Study Theme(简单英语小故事- 学习篇)
1. The Big Test
Tom had a big test coming up. He wanted to do well, so he made a study (学习) plan. Every day after school, Tom spent one hour reading his books. He also asked his teacher to help with the difficult (困难的) questions.
Tom's friend, Sara, liked to study with him. They went to the library (图书馆) and found a quiet spot. Tom brought his notebook (笔记本), and Sara brought her favorite pens. They helped each other with math (数学) and science (科学).
At first, Tom found it hard to focus (集中). He wanted to play outside. But he remembered his goal (目标) — to get a good grade. Slowly, studying became easier.
The night before the test, Tom reviewed (复习) his notes. He felt ready and confident (自信的). The next day, Tom took the test and felt proud of all his hard work. When he got his score, he smiled. He had passed!
2. Anna's New Class
Anna started a new class at school. It was a history (历史) class, and she didn't know much about it. On the first day, the teacher gave the students a big book. Anna thought it looked hard, but she wanted to learn.
After school, Anna went home and started reading. Some of the words were difficult, so she looked them up in the dictionary (字典). It helped her understand the text.
Anna also made flashcards (抽认卡) for new words. Every night, she practiced with them. She asked her parents to quiz (测试) her. They were happy to help.
One day, Anna's teacher gave a quiz in class. Anna was nervous (紧张的), but she remembered how hard she studied. When she saw the questions, she knew the answers. She finished the quiz quickly.
Later, the teacher said Anna did great. She felt proud of herself and knew studying had helped her succeed (成功).
3. Too Much Pressure
Emily loved school, but lately, she felt a lot of pressure (压力). Her teachers gave too many assignments (作业), and she worried about her grades. Every night, Emily stayed up late studying, but she felt tired all the time.
One day, Emily's friend, Jack, noticed that she was upset (沮丧的). He asked her what was wrong. Emily told him that she felt overwhelmed (不堪重负的) by all the work. Jack smiled and said, "You don't have to be perfect (完美的) all the time. Take a break (休息)."
That evening, Emily decided to relax (放松). She took a short walk and listened to her favorite music. The next day, she felt a little better. She realized that it's important to manage (管理) her time and not worry too much.
Emily started making a schedule (时间表) for her studies, giving herself time to rest. She worked hard, but now, she felt less stressed and more focused.
4. Math Problem
Lisa didn't like math (数学). She thought it was too hard and confusing (令人困惑的). One day, her teacher gave the class a new math problem. It was a long division (除法) question, and Lisa didn't know where to start.
After school, Lisa went home and told her dad about the problem. Her dad smiled and said, “Math can be fun if you take it step by step.” He showed her how to break the big problem into smaller parts. Lisa followed his advice (建议) and began to understand.
The next day, Lisa went to school with her homework. She raised her hand when the teacher asked if anyone wanted to solve the problem on the board (黑板). Lisa was nervous (紧张的), but she remembered her dad's words. Slowly, she wrote each step on the board. When she finished, the teacher said, “Good job, Lisa!”
Lisa smiled, proud of her hard work. Math wasn't so scary anymore.
5. Learning New Words
Lucy loved reading books, but sometimes she found new words that she didn't understand. One day, her teacher gave her a list of words to learn. Lucy wanted to remember (记住) them all, so she tried a new way to study.
First, she wrote each word in her notebook (笔记本). Then, she looked up the meanings (意思) in a dictionary (字典). Lucy also tried to use the new words in sentences (句子) to help her remember. When she learned the word "curious" (好奇的), she said, "I am curious about animals!"
Lucy's favorite method was drawing pictures (画图) for the words. For "apple," she drew a big red apple next to the word. This made studying fun!
Every day, Lucy practiced (练习) a few words. She asked her friends and family to test her. At the end of the week, she could remember all the words. Lucy was so happy she learned something new.
6. A Compliment from the Teacher
Lily always worked hard in school. She liked learning new things, especially in English class. One day, her teacher gave the class a difficult (困难的) assignment (作业). They had to write a short story. Lily wasn't sure what to write about at first, but she decided to write a story about her pet cat, Whiskers.
Lily spent hours at her desk, thinking and writing. She wanted to make the story perfect (完美的). The next day, she handed in her paper and waited nervously (紧张地).
When the teacher returned the papers, Lily was surprised. Her teacher smiled at her and said, “Lily, this is an excellent (优秀的) story! You did a great job!” Lily couldn't believe it. She had never been praised (表扬) like this before.
Her classmates also clapped (鼓掌), and Lily felt proud (自豪的). The teacher's kind words made her feel confident (自信的), and from that day on, Lily loved writing even more.
7. A New Book
Lucy went to the bookstore (书店) after school. She loved reading, and today she wanted to find a new book. After looking at many covers (封面), she picked a book about space (太空). It was full of pictures of stars (星星) and planets (行星).
When Lucy got home, she couldn't wait to start reading. She opened the book and began to learn about astronauts (宇航员) and rockets (火箭). She was amazed at how big the universe (宇宙) was.
Each night before bed, Lucy read a little more. The book taught her many new things. She learned that some stars are much bigger than the sun (太阳), and that some planets have rings (环). Her favorite part was about the moon (月亮) and how people have walked on it.
By the end of the week, Lucy finished the book. She was so happy and told her friends all about it. They all wanted to read it, too.
8. The Silly Prank
One sunny day, Jake and Lily sat in class. They were bored and wanted to have some fun. Jake had a funny idea for a prank (恶作剧). He whispered to Lily, "Let's hide the teacher's chalk (粉笔)!"
During recess (课间休息), they quietly took the chalk and put it in Jake's backpack. When the teacher, Mr. Smith, came back, he looked everywhere for his chalk. The class giggled (咯咯笑) because they knew the secret.
Mr. Smith was confused (困惑的). "Where could my chalk be?" he asked. Jake and Lily tried to look innocent (无辜的), but they were laughing inside.
After a while, Jake felt a little guilty (内疚的). He thought about how hard Mr. Smith worked to teach them. So, he decided to tell the truth. "Mr. Smith, we hid your chalk!" he said with a smile.
Mr. Smith laughed. "You two are very mischievous (调皮的)! But remember, pranks should be kind, not mean." Jake and Lily promised to be better. They returned the chalk and learned a lesson about fun.
9. A New School
Anna was nervous (紧张的) about starting at her new school. She had to transfer (转学) because her parents moved to a different city. On the first day, she woke up early and wore her favorite dress.
When Anna arrived at school, she saw many kids playing. She felt shy (害羞的) and didn't know anyone. Her new teacher, Mr. Brown, welcomed her with a big smile. He said, "Don't worry, Anna. You will make friends soon!"
In class, Anna sat next to a girl named Lily. Lily was friendly (友好的) and introduced Anna to her friends. They shared stories about their favorite books (书) and games. During lunch, Anna felt happier. They all laughed and talked together.
After a few weeks, Anna felt at home. She joined the art club (艺术俱乐部) and made even more friends. One day, she realized she loved her new school. Anna learned that sometimes change (变化) can be good, and she was grateful (感激的) for her new friends.
10. The Public Class
One sunny Saturday, Mia decided to attend a public class (公开课) at the community center. She was excited because she wanted to learn something new. The class was about painting (绘画). Mia loved art, but she had never painted before.
When she arrived, many people were already there. The teacher, Mr. Lee, welcomed everyone with a big smile. He said, “Today, we will learn how to paint a beautiful sunset (日落).” Mia felt a little nervous (紧张的) but also excited to try.
Mr. Lee showed everyone the colors (颜色) they would use. Mia picked bright orange and deep purple. As they painted, Mia listened carefully and followed the teacher's instructions. She felt happy as she mixed (混合) the colors on her canvas (画布).
At the end of the class, everyone shared their paintings. Mia was proud of her work. It looked beautiful! She realized that learning in a public class was fun and that she wanted to attend more classes in the future.
